This Privacy Policy applies to MethdAI ("we," "our," or "us") and describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal data when you use our website and educational platform at methdai.com. This Policy is governed by and compliant with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA), the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011. By using MethdAI, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, password, and grade level or educator role. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. This constitutes "personal data" as defined under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA).
We collect information about how you interact with our platform, including lessons completed, quiz scores, time spent on activities, and progress through our curriculum.
We automatically collect certain technical information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers to ensure our platform functions correctly. This is collected in accordance with the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 (SPDI Rules).
We use your information to operate and deliver the MethdAI platform, personalise your learning experience, track your progress, and provide you with relevant educational content. Processing is carried out for lawful purposes in accordance with the DPDPA 2023.
We analyse aggregated, de-identified usage data to improve our curriculum, fix bugs, and develop new features that better serve our students and educators.
With your consent, we may send you updates about new courses, features, and educational resources. You may withdraw consent and opt out of marketing communications at any time, as provided under the DPDPA 2023.
MethdAI serves K-12 students and takes children's privacy seriously. In accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA), we treat all users below the age of 18 as children and require verifiable parental or guardian consent before processing their personal data.
Before a child below 18 years of age creates an account or uses our platform, we require verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian. We do not process children's personal data without such consent, consistent with our obligations under the DPDPA 2023.
When MethdAI is used in a school setting, the educational institution acts as an intermediary and is responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from parents or guardians on our behalf, as required under applicable Indian law.
We do not engage in behavioural monitoring, tracking, or targeted advertising directed at children, in compliance with the DPDPA 2023.
Parents and guardians may review, request correction of, or seek erasure of their child's personal data by contacting our Grievance Officer at contact@methdai.com. Requests will be addressed within the timelines prescribed under Indian law.
MethdAI does not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.
We share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our platform (such as cloud hosting and analytics providers). These parties process your data on our behalf and are contractually bound to maintain confidentiality and implement adequate security measures as required under the SPDI Rules 2011 and DPDPA 2023.
We may disclose your personal data if required by law, court order, or a competent governmental or regulatory authority under the Information Technology Act, 2000, the DPDPA 2023, or any other applicable Indian legislation, or where disclosure is necessary to protect lawful rights or prevent unlawful activity.
If your data is transferred outside India, we ensure such transfers comply with the provisions of the DPDPA 2023 and any rules notified thereunder by the Government of India regarding cross-border data flows.
We implement reasonable security practices and procedures as mandated under the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011. This includes encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews.
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by applicable Indian law. Upon account deletion, your data will be erased within a reasonable period, subject to any statutory retention obligations.
In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to affect your rights, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required under the DPDPA 2023 and the IT Act, 2000.
Under the DPDPA 2023, you have the right to access a summary of your personal data held by us and to seek correction of inaccurate or incomplete data. You may exercise this right through your account settings or by contacting our Grievance Officer.
You may request deletion of your personal data where it is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or upon withdrawal of consent. We will process such requests in accordance with the DPDPA 2023, subject to any legal obligations requiring us to retain certain data.
You have the right to have your grievances addressed expeditiously. Complaints may be directed to our Grievance Officer (details below). If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India once constituted under the DPDPA 2023.
Under the DPDPA 2023, you may nominate another individual to exercise your data rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.
You may withdraw consent for processing of your personal data at any time. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal but may result in your inability to access certain features of the platform.
In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, and the DPDPA 2023, we have designated a Grievance Officer to address complaints and queries regarding the processing of your personal data.
