Getting started
Plug in via USB-C, hold the head button for 2 seconds. Reachy Mini will wave when it boots.
Open the MethdAI app, tap Add a Robot, and scan the QR on the base.
Choose from "Hello, Reachy", "Face Detector", or "Sound Echo" — each takes under 10 minutes.
Open the Code tab to see the same project as real Python. Edit, re-run, and watch the robot respond.

Connect & install the app

Connect via USB
Use the USB cable that came with your robot to connect it to your computer.

Download the desktop app
The desktop app includes everything you need to control your Lite version.

Open the app & play!

How long does assembly usually take?
Most testers finish in about 1.5 to 2 hours. First-timers may take up to 4 hours — there is no rush.
Are any of the assembly steps difficult?
Not really — most users describe the build as fun, simple, and satisfying. Cable routing and torquing parts correctly are the trickiest bits. A printed user guide and a video walkthrough come with the kit.
I have a couple of spare cables and screws left over. Is that normal?
Yes — extras are intentionally included in case parts are damaged or lost during the build. You do not need to install them.
My Reachy Mini doesn't move on first startup. What should I check?
Make sure the 7V / 5A power supply is plugged in — USB alone is not enough to power the motors. Then reseat every cable, especially the power leads, since loose connectors are the most common cause of "motor not responding" errors.
Do I have to start the daemon manually?
No. The Wireless version runs the daemon automatically on its embedded Raspberry Pi. The Lite version is driven by the desktop app, which handles startup for you.
How do I check how much battery is left?
There is no direct battery readout — that is a known limitation of the design. The on-robot LED indicator transitions from green to orange to red as the battery depletes.
Is the hardware open source?
Yes. The SDK and firmware are fully open source. Some 3D STL files are already published in the public repository, and additional CAD will be released over time.
